So after buying the shamwow, it was time to do some tests. My favorite one was the soda pop and carpet demonstration from the infomercials.

Our Tests
So is a "Sham or Wow"? A roommate spilled a can of coca-cola on the floor and the testing began. In the infomercial, pitchman Vince cleans up the exact spill we had on our hands, so we knew just what to do: Begin by letting the Shamwow soak with its own absorbent strength, then start punching and pounding that rag into the rug.

While laying the Sham wow down on the rug just was working at first, but after we starting pounding the shamwow into the carpet, it not only removed the coca-cola, but it also removed the staining color. Something we couldn't replicate with a dish towel.

Later in the week my wife over watered the our plant in the kitchen and by the time we noticed the over watering of the plant the water was everywhere. Sham wow to the rescue, one of his claims was it would pick up 20 times its weight in liquids. Our shamwow not only picked it up but left the floor dry, like it had never happened.

Drying off after a swim was an experience in exfoliation, with the Shamwow rubbing it in at about 220 grit. It was very light in the backpack on the way to the swimming hole, however. Caught in the rain, it can wipe you down from forehead to pant leg. And after a shower, it makes for a decent bath mat. In the kitchen, it's too coarse to use as a towel and too stiff to be a napkin, but it can scour a stovetop and it's not a bad place mat. On food spills, it works better on thinner liquids—wine, yes; tomato sauce, no.

The Shamwow Claim to Fame
"You'll say wow every time you use the shamwow." This revolutionary fabric works either wet or dry and acts like a vacuum to soak up spills and holds 20 times its weight in fluids. The machine-washable rayonlike textile wicks liquid and air-dries quickly for reuse, saving big bucks on paper towels. Eight for $19.95

The Shamwow Tests
Soaking Coca-Cola from a carpet, cleaning a spill from over watering a plant, wiping the kitchen counter tops, turning your shamwow into a bath mat and drying yourself off after swimming.

The Verdict
The sham wow works, but keep a roll of paper towel near by, and don't expect to say wow!! everytime you use your shamwow.
